Saliente della prima puntata è la sfida tra le tre supercar ibride del decennio, ovvero la Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach package, la McLaren P1 e la Ferrari LaFerrari, disputatasi all’Autodromo Internazionale di Algarve, in Portogallo.

Come già immaginavo, e per mia grande gioia, su di un vero circuito, quello di Algarve appunto, con lo stesso pilota di Formula 1 a guidarle (ovvero il belga Jerome d’Ambrosio) e con le stesse gomme la Porsche è risultata la vincitrice. Di seguito i tempi sul circuito:
Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach package: 1:54.2
Ferrari LaFerrari: 1:54.4
McLaren P1:
McLaren P1: 1:55.5
D’altronde la Porsche 918 Spyder è anche la detentrice del miglior tempo sul giro sulla Nordschleife del Nurburgring tra le auto di serie omologate per la circolazione stradale, come mostra questo articolo: Wikipedia – lista dei tempi sul giro della Nurburgring Nordschleife.
Altra attrattiva di questo primo episodio è stata la presentazione del nuovo tracciato di prova del programma, ovvero l’EbolaDrome, così chiamato da Clarkson perchè dall’alto ha la stessa forma del virus Ebola.

Il nuovo tracciato è stato per la prima volta percorso proprio da Clarkson a bordo di una BMW M2, la migliore BMW M di sempre a detta sua, anche se si è poi rivelata essere più lenta delle sorelle maggiori M3, M4 ed M5.
